More from the masters show

Here is a section from the masters show that was separate from the room instillation.
This is a found object piece, which is a door from an abandoned gym, the door was caked in graffiti, as the area has become a hot spot for local artists to practice there trade and meet with other graffiti writers.
I used the door, mounted high in a pile of discarded cans [all from the same gym] as a representation of one mans trash is another treasure.
We have become accustom to living in a wasteful society, yet those who are considered no more than waste full, in this case the graffiti writer, take the old and make it of worth.
I also displayed a collection of photographs from my urbexing sessions to tie in with the concept of waste, these photos you can see in large on separate sections of the blog.

Master show

I just noticed the other day that I never put up any of my work from my MA show.
as most of you who follow me know, I did the work on graffiti within the middle class culture and it invasion on the private and public spheres of the gallery space.
It was an exploration of the mind set of people who try to out run graffiti and other types of petty crime by hiding away in there home.
My work presented the viewer with the idea that graffiti and mark making are one of the oldest forms of declaration of ones self, and this is something we are bred to do, we must leave our mark.
enjoy...
